Happy skin…

I wasn’t blessed with good skin. I’ve suffered with breakouts for as long as I can remember and I definitely fall under the combination/oily category!

Last year I finally found a combination of beauty products thats working for me and I have to say that after almost 30 years of being miserable with my spotty preteen boy complexion I’m finally happy in my skin!

Now before I start I will say that none of these items were gifted to me [I wish!] and I cant promise that they will work for you, but if you’re feeling despair over your skin as I was, it could be worth a try!

Firstly I remove my make up with L’Oreal Micellar water. I’ve tried others but this one seems to remove every spot of make up without rubbing and scrubbing at my skin.

L’Oreal Micellar Water currently £2.99 in Superdrug

Then I wash my face with an antibacterial soap as advised to me by my Dr. The one I use is called Valderma and although very sceptical at first [I was convinced this would dry me out] I love it. It leaves my skin feeling squeaky clean. Its cheap as chips too and available at most pharmacies. I’ve linked it HERE if you’d like to take a look. I use warm water to make a soft foam with the soap, apply it to my face avoiding my eyes then wipe away with a wet facecloth. Since using this soap my spots have become almost non existent!

Next is eye cream and I love this Illuminating Caviar Eye Roll-on from Lacura at Aldi. Its so cooling on the under eye area. They say it has Liposome concentrate and hyaluronic acid promote intensive hydration to reduce swelling and dryness lines. Caviar extract, rich in amino acids, proteins and vitamins, repairs skin texture and moisturises mature and dry skin. Its absolutely perfect when you’re feeling tired, this definitely gives you that quick wake up feeling!

Another Aldi Lacura product next and its their 7 day Caviar intensive treatment. This is beautiful! No stickness and it sinks into my skin instantly [I hate the feeling of products sitting on my face]. They say  it’s a highly concentrated 7-day skincare regime for day and night. Lavish skin with anti-ageing ingredients to leave it feeling hydrated, refreshed and smoother. Features: Contains caviar extract, rich in amino acids, proteins and vitamins. Improves elasticity and tone for supple, smooth skin. Regenerates skin cells for a brighter complexion. Helps to detoxify the skin, decrease redness and enhance your natural glow. Now, they recommend that you use one of theses little ampules per treatment but I find that is far too much! I use maybe around a 5th of that and its more than enough to cover my face and neck but everything else I completely agree with, its a gorgeous product [and a smidge of the price of its high end equivalent!]

Lacura 7 Day Treatment £7.99

At night time I apply a face oil and I swear by Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate. Its lovely and light and a few drops definitely goes a long way! I also apply this to my children if they have dry skin as its very soothing and extremely gentle.

Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate £37

And finally I finish with a moisturiser and after trying a sample of this one back in October last year I was completely hooked!

Charlotte Tilbury Magic Cream £70

Yes I know its expensive, I managed to blag about 20 free samples of it before I committed to make sure it was perfect for me but perfect it is and I love it! [and thankfully I had a big birthday so it was bought for me as a pressy!]  The smell alone puts me into a good mood, it smells of spring! Beautiful and fresh and I can honestly stand sniffing it for a good 5 minutes before I put it anywhere near my face! I wish she’d make the smell into a candle its so good!

Charlotte says: Darlings, this is my coveted secret formula adored backstage by models and celebrities! Featuring my secret blend of patented ingredients, including BioNymph Peptide Complex, floral extracts and a hyaluronic acid booster to lift and flood the skin with moisture. Whether you’re stressed at your desk or an all-night hedonist with hungover skin, cheat the appearance of 8 hours sleep and enjoy a plumped, glowing, youthfully dewy complexion in a flash!

Now I’m not sure I’d agree that it gives you that 8 hours of sleep look, but it does make my skin feel smoother and it definitely helps to plump up those fine lines [the thick heavy set ones are probably gonna need fillers!] I use a tiny amount, enough to cover my finger tip, and thats enough to cover my face and neck. She shows you how to apply it using a massaging technique which I also do.

So there you have it! If you have a product that you swear by please let me know! I’m always on the look out for beauty lotions and potions to help reverse the cruel hands of time, well until I finally give into botox!

As always thank you for reading!

Tracey xoxo

  1. Thanks for this Tracey. It sounds as though I have similar skin to yours, really disheartening to have lines and spots at the same time!
I also love the midnight recovery concentrate and have just discovered the Aldi range which, so far, seems to be working well for my skin. Maybe the saving I’m making on that would compensate for the CT moisturiser?

    • Hi Bev! The Aldi products are amazing aren’t they! I’ve heard wonderful things about their night and day creams too! [may give them a try once the CT runs out]
Thank you for popping by and having a read!
