When I was a little girl, my favourite thing about Christmas was Christmas eve. The apprehension of what was to come made me so giddy I could hardly get through the day! But the most exciting part was leaving a treat for Father Christmas. My sister and I would carefully choose a biscuit from the “special” biscuit tin, along with a carrot and a small glass of milk, knowing that by morning these would have been enjoyed and exchanged for a sack full of presents!
I do the same with my children now but I also wanted to include a new tradition of our own so we make Elf Donuts!
These tiny treats look so intricate but I promise you they are ridiculously easy to make, you don’t even need to put the oven on!
What you will need…
100g Icing sugar mixed with enough cold water to make it a coating consistency (think double cream)
Cheerios or Weetos
Toppings such as sprinkles, edible glitter and mini silver dragees
With a small paintbrush or a skewer, coat the top of the Cheerio with the icing mixture…
Then its as easy as dunking your sticky mini donut into the various toppings!
You’ll need to leave them to set for an hour or so….
And thats it! Told you it was easy didn’t I!
They will store in an airtight container for up to a week (if they last that long) and the Elves will absolutely love them!
