The Library…

I was luckily invited along to a Jazz night at the Library in Sheffield with a few local blogger friends! The night had been arranged by Hannah Mccreesh who is doing an amazing job at championing Sheffields hidden gems. The Library, which is based at Attercliffe, is an interiors lovers delight! The space is filled with an eclectic mix of furniture and artwork which gives the space a cool and cosy vibe! Seriously it felt like I was in someones living room! Did you know it was Sheffield’s first Library when it was built back in the 1890’s.

We had been invited along to enjoy one of their “Jazz on the Cliff” nights. These take place on a Thursday evening and from what we saw its a very popular night out!

I met with Tracey (The Naughty Forties Diaries) at Meadowhall and we made our way there by car. Ok I did manage to get lost finding it but after a quick check on the satnav (and a wrong turn up a one way street) we were able to find a parking space just outside (there is also a large carpark a stones throw away I later found out!).

We were greeted by Hannah (with a glass of wine) and said a long overdue hello to Prue & Meg and within a few moments we met with plethora of delicious tapas! First up was bread and olives glazed with balsamic vinegar – YUM! and then this arrived…

The food was wonderful, king prawns in a chilli glaze, patatas brava with an unctuous tomato sauce but I have to say the chicken curry was an absolute delight to eat! The chicken was moist and the sauce was so morish.. I could have licked my plate!

Whilst we were eating the music started up and the All New Sheffield Jazz Jam hit the stage! Members of the audience are also invited to join in, one lady who sang with them was amazing! I thought she was part of the band until I saw her take her seat back in the audience. I was tempted to have a go but sadly I’m tone deaf and would have cleared the room within about 20 seconds!

We had such a fun night and I will definitely be returning! There was a fully stocked bar offering a variety of drinks from cocktails to coffees and in the day time you can pop in for a bite to eat and sample one of their delicious cakes!

The Library is at 10 Leeds Road, Attercliffe S9 3TY Opening hours HERE

Thanks for reading!
